Preparing to move the boat from Portland to Anacortes required some of the long “in-process” jobs to be completed, for either practicality or safety’s sake. No voyage has ever had ample time available for prep and this was no different. We put in a marathon 2 weeks of finishing up the various jobs that needed to be done.

Harr, man the capstan.  After much ado we finally have a bowsprit.  A bit of a backstory is probably in order; the previous owner of the boat had crashed into a log boom in the dark of night many years ago.  This had led to some damage in the bowsprit that was never properly attended to.  This damage festered into much much worse damage over the years and required some major repair to the spar.  After weighing many options we…
